A lot of the patients we see at Overmeyer Family Dental tell us they want whiter smiles. As you age it’s almost a guarantee that your teeth will become yellower, greyer, and just not as bright as they used to be. If you’re like the patients we see at our Orlando dentist office you may have tried to get whiter teeth at home, but you probably weren’t happy with the results.
When it comes to whitening your teeth there’s only one way to really get the results you want: professional whitening at Overmeyer Family Dental. With just a few weeks of evening whitening at home we can get you results that no commercial kit can compete with!
You may be wondering how that’s possible. There are a few reasons that professional teeth whitening is the prefered choice. They seem like little things but when it comes to teeth whitening those little things make a world of difference.
What’s In Your Whitener?
There have been plenty of attempts to create a new, game-changing whitening product that could make whitening faster and easier than anything else on the market. All of these attempts fall flat because the best whitening product already exists: hydrogen peroxide.
When it comes to getting whitening results that work there’s nothing that can be the effects of hydrogen peroxide. It’s good at lifting stains, it’s tested and true, and we know that it really works for our patients. If you’re considering teeth whitening there’s nothing you can buy that can beat its results.
A lot of commercial whitening products use carbamide peroxide instead of hydrogen peroxide. While carbamide still works, it has to first break down into hydrogen peroxide and urea. This means you end up with less hydrogen peroxide to do the job, and that means weaker results!
Even when you buy a hydrogen peroxide kit at the store you usually end up with something a lot weaker than what we can provide. Just one more reason to come see us!
Whitening Trays: One Size Fits … All?
Not so fast: there’s a reason you won’t find universally-sized whitening trays at Overmeyer Family Dental. Hydrogen peroxide gel is incredibly unstable – it breaks down at the drop of a hat! Even light can cause it to disintegrate into oxygen and water. We want that reaction while it’s in your mouth, but not before!
Another substance that’s harmful to peroxide is saliva – it breaks it apart instantly! When custom whitening products are left to interact with saliva in your mouth they never get a chance to work. That’s why the whitening trays we use are custom made from an impression of your mouth. We’ll build whitening trays made especially for you that ensure an even coating of whitening gel and a tight seal that keeps saliva out.
There’s another reason for sealed whitening trays: no interaction with your gums. Whitening often results in sensitivity, so we keep the chances of it at a minimum with whitening trays that keep the gel where it belongs: on your teeth.
Gimmicks: You Don’t Need Them.
It’s easy to get caught up in the newest of everything. Those gadgets must exist for a reason, right? When it comes to teeth whitening there are a number of systems that promote special treatments to speed up the whitening process or make it easier. Unfortunately they aren’t always what they’re cut out to be.
One of the most popular gizmos in modern teeth whitening is an LED light that is supposed to accelerate the whitening process. There are professional versions of these lights, but there are some major differences between them and store-bought systems.
Professional lights require an intense amount of energy. They also put out specially-tuned UV light that is designed to speed the decay of hydrogen peroxide. The level of fine-tuning, energy output, and operation training that these lights require can’t be replicated with a cheap battery-operated kit bought at the store!
Don’t Take Chances With Your Smile
We can get you a beautiful bright smile – it just takes the strength, reliability, and customization that our professional whitening kits have available. If you want to get teeth whitening results that you can rely on there’s only one way to do it: with an appointment at Overmeyer Family Dental!
