Every smile will have its ups and downs. There will be times when you feel confident no matter what, and other times you will be ashamed to smile for even your family and friends! Most adults are able to maintain most of their natural teeth, but for some, a total restoration will be necessary.

When we say total restoration, we mean that every tooth in that smile needs to be restored through some measure. The most common is with dentures, but we will talk more about your options here in Orlando, FL in just a moment.

We first want to make sure you realize that this is a very serious issue. Your entire health could rest on the choices you make for restoration. Here at Overmeyer Family Dental, we are prepared to help you make the best choice for your smile and your livelihood!

Why Replacement is Necessary

Ignoring your tooth loss is simply not an option. There is a reason you are losing teeth, and it’s not old age. Most adult teeth come out because of a gum disease infection or extensive decay. The longer you ignore the problem, the more teeth you are bound to lose!

You need a full set of teeth in order to stay healthy and confident. Let’s take a look at some specific things that make your teeth absolutely necessary!

Your Nutrition and Health
You can put a lot of things at risk, but you should never knowingly put your health at risk! By choosing to ignore missing teeth, that’s exactly what you are doing. Having missing teeth makes it more difficult to chew nutritious foods like fresh fruits and vegetables.

If you cannot eat nutritious foods, your body won’t get what it needs to live a long and healthy life. Every tooth affects your ability to chew, so even one missing tooth can have a massive impact.

Comfort and Confidence
If you aren’t worried about your health, we hope that you are concerned about your confidence and comfort levels. Having missing teeth, whether it is one or several, will affect both, especially if your gap can be seen when you smile.

Replacing a tooth or teeth will almost immediately improve the way you feel about your smile. There is no reason to hesitate any longer! Get a smile you can be proud by replacing missing teeth!

Types of Replacements

Let’s take a few moments to look at the quality replacement options we have available here at Overmeyer Family Dental. No matter how many teeth require treatment or what your budget can allow, we have options that will transform the way you smile!

Full Dentures
Full dentures are the most popular tooth restoration on the market. We all know at least one person wearing full dentures, and you have probably had several family members or neighbors who have worn dentures around you.

Full dentures are teeth fitted onto a plastic base that suctions to your gums. These teeth are removable and are a good option for some patients. Dentures, however, are not the BEST option to replace all of your teeth. At least not on their own.

Partial Dentures
For patients missing several teeth, partial dentures can be a great option. These are groups of teeth placed in a plastic base that can attach to your remaining teeth using small metal clips. This allows you to replace the teeth you are missing while still maintaining some of your natural teeth.

Like full dentures, partial dentures are removable and are not the BEST option for replacing several teeth. They might work for a while, but there is a better long-term option.

Dental implants can replace any and all missing teeth. Whether you are missing one tooth or all of your teeth, a dental implant solution is the best option. Not all patients can afford this option, but we can often make it easier for patients to handle!

For example, we can replace all of your teeth permanently with stationary replacement teeth, which would be the most expensive option. OR we could use dental implants to to secure your dentures, which would be a more affordable option since fewer implants are needed.

Knowing the Best Option

We don’t expect you to know the best option, but we can help you decide. We will consider what is best with your smile, along with what is best for your wallet. The last thing we want is to break your budget, but we can help you find the balance between quality dental restorations and the financial situation you can handle.
